Why Guangzhou

The trading heart of South China

Zhujianger means a person of the Pearl River. This site is built by people who live and work here, for the visitors, buyers and expats who pass through every year.

Guangzhou is where the world comes to do business with China. Twice a year the Canton Fair fills the Pazhou exhibition complex with buyers from every continent, and between sessions the city's wholesale market districts trade everything from electronics and leather to textiles and toys, every single day.

It is also one of China's great food cities. Cantonese cuisine was born here, and our food guide covers everything from morning dim sum to late-night dai pai dong. When the work is done, the bars and nightlife around Zhujiang New Town and Party Pier keep going well past midnight.

Getting around is easy once you know how. Our metro route planner takes the guesswork out of one of the world's busiest metro systems, our hotel guide matches you to the right district, and the news desk keeps you current on visas, transport and city changes. Start with the full Guangzhou city guide.
